AmeriCorps, a part of the Corporation for National and Community Service, is a national service program that places AmeriCorps members in communities to "Get Things Done". The Equal Heart AmeriCorps program is currently focused on reducing hunger and seeks partners who want to expand and/or enhance hunger-relief operations. AmeriCorps members perform direct service for a specified term, defined by either the school year or summer. Members earn a stipend while serving and an end of term education award.
AmeriCorps members have allowed us to grow our vision beyond the four walls of our facilities and be out right in the middle of the communities, where the need is the greatest.
AmeriCorps members served a total of 37,000 meals at 33 sites to children in the St. Louis area. Members were instrumental in providing a fun and engaging atmosphere for children and building crucial relationships with community members.
The addition of AmeriCorps members in our kitchens allowed us to replace processed food with fresh fruits and vegetables for 10,000 daily meals. Members upgraded the meal quality and their service allowed our sites to add critical site programming.
Equal Heart seeks to support organizations working in under-resourced communities. If one of your solutions involves hunger-relief, we might be able to help. Let's start the conversation.
